How to get to the hospital

There are several ways of getting to Stavanger University Hospital by public transport. Here follows a brief summary.

The term Pasientreiser (patient travel) is used to describe travel to and from authorised treatments. The hospital is responsible for providing patient travel and will meet the cost of the cheapest mode of travel on behalf of the patient. You can read more on the Pasientreiser website​. The website also contains information about the Helseekspress and Helsebuss bus services.​

Several scheduled bus routes stop at the hospital, Gerd-Ragna Bloch Thorsens gate, Fylkeslege Ebbells gate and Ullandhaugveien.

By the main entrance, entrance 2, entrance 6 og and the entrance at Departement of Psychiatry, you will find complete bus routes with details of stops and departure times.​

Paradis Train Station closest mainline station to Stavanger University Hospital. The distance between the station and the hospital is around 1 km.

Dalene DMS is about one hour drive from Stavanger. The closest mainline station is Egersund Train Station. 

There are usually taxis available at the taxi rank outside the main hospital building. If not, our receptionists are on hand 24 hours a day and can help book a taxi for you.

Stavanger Airport in Sola is just under 10 km from Stavanger University Hospital. There is direct airport bus between the hospital and Stavanger ​Airport every half hour.​
